unfortunaly we couldn't make the aopen/toshiba drives work with CDSpeed to make some scan comparisons too...

I 'd like to thank you for including the ASUS E616P2 and the LiteOn SOHD-167T too.

In page http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=12608&PageId=2, above dvd-/+r test graph you wrote "...where again the Aopen and Toshiba drives proved to be the fastest...". You meant Asus, not Toshiba, right?


My conclusions:
Asus is still the best. It needs a firmware with removed rip lock to be perfect. There are a few skilful patchers that might do it later, but none achieved it yet (Any patchers listening?)
Toshiba is not like it used to be. Identical result to Samsung's drive, no more fast cd-rw and protected cds reading, not even a Toshiba chipset. A rebudged Samsung. For me, Toshiba no more makes dvd-rom drives (sound harsh, ah?)

Can we hope for LG GDR-8163B review in the not too far future?

Cool this is a step towards completing all the DVD-ROM drives I wanted to see reviewed:

Toshiba SD-M1912
Lite-On SOHD-167T
AOpen DVD-1648/AAP Pro
ASUS DVD-E616P2

Here are the remaining drives I would like to see reviewed, hope you could do them fairly soon

coldpower27, the LG drive supposed to come soon, the Samsung more or less is the same as the Toshiba, the BenQ we will try, as for the Pioneer 122 i have to check again

well thats what i have been told, i don't know how soon will arrive, anyway we have some pre CeBIT preparations going on, so its possible that those drive's reviews to be delayed a bit
