Every time Nero 5.5.9.17.1 starts, it is in Express mode. Clicking the Nero button just says to visit the website. The shortcut does not start with the /w switch.

Any ideas?

I've had that problem before too....twice actually! the only way I know to fix it is to completely un-install Nero and then re-install it again. it only seems to happen when I upgrade to a newer version [?]

Actually, it happens EVERY time I install, upgrade or clean install.. I just did a full system clean install and it did it. I tried removing and reinstalling and it still does it.

have you tried re-downloading the install files? if that doesn't work, it'd probably be a good idea to contact Nero Tech Support!

Did your Nero software come bundled with a recorder?

There are OEMs shipping only the NeroExpress interface now. And to get the classic look you would need to purchase an upgrade.

But if you had Nero for some time, then this is not the case.

Best thing to do is send a request to me at techsupport4@nero.com for our Nero Clean tool. Use this to clean your system of Nero. And then download our Nero 5.5.9.17, and first install in Demo mode. And then open and close Nero a few times to be sure its working normally. And then go to Nero's Help>About and enter your Nero 5 serial key to unlock from Demo mode.

Does it remain in classic mode or force you back into Express GUI?

I had this problem but found out it depends on which serial number you put in...if the number is for Nero Express then the above happens but if it's the normal Nero package you should be able to toggle back and forth. You can get whatever serial type you need by dl the Orion keygen for Nero 5.5.9.17 from Kazaa.

If you choose the normal Nero package it won't have a shortcut to Nero Express but you can get round it by creating one from the Start Menu (send it to desktop)in Windows. The /w shortcut does'nt work on this version.

Which OEM's are express only?

I'll make sure to steer friends expecting Nero "proper" away from them - that separate window for ADD is APPALLING, slow, awkward, and the freeware frontends for MKISOFS/CDRDAO/CDRECORD are looking pretty close to that in functionality now.

If this is a cynical plot to get more licence upgrade fees, I'd recommend people to go ROXIO, NTI, or one of the Prassi based alternatives, rather than upgrading from express to full.

My opinion of Express just took a nosedive when it crashed as I tried it just now - something that classic mode has never done on me!
