This weekend, using INCD, I tried to copy about 500Mb from HDD to CDRW in one go.

After 45 minutes I cancelled it! When I've previously copied smaller blocks of data it seemed to be reasonably fast. Everything else is fine.

Is there any reason for this?

R.

That is strange. Which InCD version are you using?

As further info, I tried it agian last night.

When copying in Windows Explorer the same thing happened. I cancelled the copy and then got an "illegal operation" type error that shut down explorer.

I then tried using "My computer", opening two windows and copying. This was a little faster and didn't error. What happens is the drive spins-up, the red light comes on for a second, then it spins-down. The repeats. When a large file is copied, it takes a while but once it's written the drive then copies a load of smaller files very quickly.

I was copying a lot of data (500Mb copied onto a CDRW of capacity about 534Mb) in many files large and small, in many directories with lots of nesting. My CDR is Lite-on LTR 12102B and I'm using Win98(2nd Ed).

Cheers,

R.
