I have a very nice Divx avi file which I would like to convert to a VCD. It is audio encoded at 48000 and must be split due to length. I used Virtual Dub to split the file into 2 new files both of which played fine on my computer. Then the trouble started. I used TmpgEnc to set one of the files up for VCD. As per instructions I set the audio to 44100 and encoded. The resulting video was fine, but the audio did not sync. What did I do wrong? Should I have encoded the entire file and then split it? Reencoded the audio with virtualDub first? In fact, if I must reencode the audio in virtualDub, there is another problem. If I try to encode with mpeglayer3, and ask for all formats, 44100 is not there. Do I need another codec? I am running on windows xp. Thanks lonnic

I had a divx movie and was successful in making a vcd(after much trial and error)
The audio sounded much better if I did this with virtualdub:


Firstly with virtual dub:
Open the file
Settings:
Video>>>direct stream copy

Audio>>>Full processing mode>>compression>>no compression
then press F7 and it will save your video/audio avi into and uncompressed formatt(hopefully!!) It will be a much larger file.

Then encode with TMPGen with the uncompressed file.
Made a better sounding vcd this way.

Thanks alazok. I did as you suggested and it worked fine for me. It turned out that my big problem was a very small glitch in the video early in the file. The audio skipped over it and was out of sync for the rest of the file. When I finally found it, I used virtualdub to cut out the bad part and everything was great.

I am going to try what ALAZOK suggested. Hope it works. I have made CD's from perfect Divx but found once in a while that the video and audio did not sync but would come back. Hope this works

Well I did as alazok suggested. I got a very good VCD but still some audio out of sync with the video. It seems to happen wether I sync the audio or not. How can I get it perfect.
