Im thinking of getting a sony dvd burner but i have to know something first.....

i cant solder so i cant install a mod chip and was thinking of getting a USB one but i wasnt sure if it works good...does anyone have one or know if it would work to play backups?

I have heard that the external mod chips are no good, and that they can only play import games. I would suggest you get an internal mod chip and get a PRO to install it!

It costs to much to have someone install it....what about this no soldering one http://modchip.com/ps2/v56pnporder.htm.....or i can learn to solder...how hard is it to learn how?

Hello
I agree with pnonso about the usb modchip,you should take a look for an internal modchip
as for the one you suggest the main disadvantage is that require a swap disc

hi just a quick work on the usb mod for psx2 its called a neo key and it will play cdr backups of psx2 games only it will play imported originals but it WILL NOT play dvdr backups.

Why should someone use that chip for?
Most game are on dvd

Well sunfishdog, I have an installer in my area (USA CA in San Diego) that will install AND give me a mod chip for 100$. Most of the time, the chips are 79$. The chip is the DMS3, which is the newest and in my opinion the best mod chip for the ps2. To find an installer near you, go to www.chipinstallation.com Hope this helps.
