From what I have read windows users have to wait for MR to be fully supported by windows (and wait for the next version of windows) to have the full benefits - this being the ability to packet write directly to disks without having to format the disks first. I am right so far?

So what would would be the benefits of buying a Mount Rainier compatible burner now without the inbuilt OS support and how does this compare to a non MR burner?

Is there A MR DVD burner yet or one coming out soon?

The benefit would be that drive manufacturer usually bundle the device with appropriate software, including a packet-writing MRW-capable application which will allow you to gain full benefit of MRW.

You will still need to format your media but the format will take only a few seconds instead of several minutes.

DVD+MRW are not yet available on the market. Still under development.

yeah
bought new cdrw for the mt.rainer
bundle with 3.39 incd (didn't know they have 3.39 .......)
anyway
so far so good
no problem created yet
:)

no need bloody format (only back ground format)
:)
and somehow if u format it 1st then copy.......it's slower when copy to the cdrw .....
and copy and format at the same time (mt.rainer)
overall faster by a few secs....... not much though
but not required for the long wait formating for slower cdrw.....

unfortunately 3.31 incd doesn't recognise mt.rainer (or my drive)
so have to use 3.39incd

not sure what had change there......
since a lot ppl stated 3.37 was the worst incd......
hopefully they fix 3.39
and i won't get the snag .......

how come ahead never post the changes for incd before?
because it's free to nero burner?

DVD+RW alone offers most of the packet writing benefits that people care about. Formatting is done in the background as the dvd is written and when you eject the dvd it is made dvd-rom compatible, so you don't need additional software to read it with. If that is all you are looking for.
