I have a msi 8452A cd-rw and lately i have the below problem
even if i don't affrond any problem with its reading capabilities it can write above 4x with whatever media.
specifically whenever you enter an empty media into the drive and you are going to burn it with any program (nero easy cd-creator clonecd) the burning speed is only 4x and when you press the burn button and after the cahe of the files throws the below errors.

1-Power calibration error
2-Could not perform EndTrack
3-Session fixation error
4-Could not perform Fixation
5-Burn process failed at 4x (600 KB/s)

P4 2.6GHz, msi motherboard, 512mb ram, the drive is at the secondary master (i have test and at the other positions master primary). win xp sp1. i have also installed nero 6.6.0.1 clonecd 5.0.2.2 easy cd creator 6, alcohol 120% 1.9.0

I have also update the firmware of the drive but the situation didn't change.

any help is appreciated!

This is a media issue in your firmware, all the symptoms 1-5 above point to a media problem. Either your drive doesn't like the media you have tried, or it's firmware just hasn't been updated to accomodate the media you are trying. I know you stated that you updated to the latest firmware, but this does not mean that the drive manufacturer has updated it's media codes in it's firmware.
