Hi there!

Is there a way to override the recording speed that NEC is giving me. Specificly I have stocked up PRINCO CD-R media that should burn up to 56x and I burned it @ 40x with no problems on my old LG 40x CD-RW.
Now I have a new NEC DVD-RW 3500 and it wont allow me to burn higher than 24x. Is there anything i can do or is it just that NEC 3500 doesn't like Princo much? Thanx

Maybe NEC is not a fast CD burner but it can burns CDs at 24X better than many other drives. Personaly I wouldn't sugget higher speeds than 24X.

With good media (Taiyo Yuden) I can get 32X that are perfect. How reliable is Princo media?

I'll tell you what my short experience tells me, stay away from them. You can find even better at the same prices.

Thank you for your answers. Princo is preety reliable. I don't know why NEC has such issues with princo but i burned princo on several other burners (TEAC,LG,PLEXTOR) and on speeds from 10x to 40x and never had any problems with recording or using recorded media.

I'm missing something. With good media (Taiyo Yuden), we can get 48X, right ?
I have TDK CDs and 48X didn't have any problem.

You probably can get 48X, but my TY media is only rated for 32X. The difference in 32X and 48X isn't that important to me, the quality of the burn is.

Yeah, I bought a bunch a year or two ago when they were really cheap. I'm actually starting to run low on them though now :)

Although they are 48X I burn them only at 16X or 24X, never higher.

I never burn them below 48X. No single error. ^.^
