Hi and welcome to our forums.

Of course you can do it, let me describe how:

a) Grab the Sony CRX230e firmware at: here. Assuming you want to get the QYS3 file, its a windows flasher.
b) Grab FlashFix
c) Drop the QYS3.exe file into Flashfix, and use the new file to flash your drive back to a SONY CRX230e

Hey,

I'm trying to overclock my LTR-48246S (48/24/48) OC to 52246S.

So I went to that page and downloaded SS0E. And ran it and it ran succesfully. And restarted computer.

CDRW drive still works fine but it is still reported as the 48246S and still only 48x, not 52x?

Did I do something wrong?

Thanks,
Will

I think you needed to flashfix the 52246S firmware to OC a 48246S - - looks like "OC to" is an indication of what it WILL do, rather than the one that does the deed.

PS. Make sure you aim a flashfixed flasher at the right drive, as it's probably removed ALL misflash protection!

Hey,

So you think I should flashfix and run LTR-52246S (52/24/52) No OC:

6S0F? Whats the difference between w1 and w2?

This one right?:

Update:

Yeap it was. Hehe

Thanks man for the tip off. Did not relize. Figured I just did something wrong.

Working great now. :)

Thanks again,
Will

The difference between 48 and 52 is going to be pretty minor - in fact, on many media, it might not even get there.

I'm not sure that a small increase in speed is worth crossflashing for - later firmware with better media support, perhaps, but I'd expect the 52x result to be even more marginal than a 48x ... your burn quality will normally thank you for holding it back to 40, 32 or even 24 for some really poor media.
