I have a lite on 451 (with the latest firmware) and have tried several times to make back-up copies of different movies I have using DVD X Copy Express. Almost every one of the back-ups have problems, the problems seem to begin about half way into the movie. Some will only have a few problems then play well, other will have many problems for the rest of the movie
What should I do? Will a Dual Layer drive help.

Sounds like it might be a compatibility problem. Try a different brand media and see if that helps any.

The main problem is the voice and viedo get out of sync. sometimes it can only be for a short time (2 to 5 min) and others times (different back-up) it will be for the complete second half of the movie.
No I do not believe I have any program that comes close to matching ASPI unless it installs off the DVD X Copy Express CD.
I back-up my movies (one movie per disk) to a 4.5 Gb DVD disk and for knowing whether the movie is compressed or no I can not say for sure.
I would like to thank you for your quick responses to my problem

Try using DVD-Shrink/Nero and see if that helps any.
