Other than the Swap Disc method (which I personally don't recommend) there are none that I know of, other than having a Mod Chip Installed Mate!

i understand that you don't want to chip your ps2 i mean look if and i mean if you chip it and it works it will make the laser work to hard and break it after about 6 months it will slow down the time it takes to load a game and your games will frezz all of the time if i were you i'd get a slide card and swap disc what ever you do NEVER get a non solder modchip it doesn't play 80min (700mb)cd-r and rw and will only play dvd-r and rw games under 1.5gb but te slide card plays all click this to see what i mean www.modchip.com/ps2/slidecard.htm

Also minos keep in mind the that by using the swap magic method there are some magic tricks that you have to do by your own.
On earlier versions of swap magic to load a specific game you needed to keep pressed the power button and at the same time change the discs. So propably more than one person needed to load a game
I will agree with the other posters about installing a modchip, like the messiah 2 Pro, that will also give you the chance to switch off the modchip(transparent)
Please found an expert to do this job for you!

look minos what jimmys said is true you can put some mod-chips on stand-by but even if a pro installs it.every time you use it it is shorting the life of your ps2. my psx lasted 6 years when i got a new one and had it chiped it lasted about 1 and a half its not worth it this slidecard works and it doesn't were the laser out + getting a pro installer is very pricy it costs up to $200 or £ or whatever .and if you are about to buy a new ps2 how long do you want it to last 6 years or six months .think about it
