How do you back up a 3 hour dvd using Dvd Decrypter, Dvd Shrink 3.2, and Nero 6? Do I just need to find larger capacity media, than 4.7gb?

No, DVD Shrink will shrink it down to the appropriate size. Simply run the disc through DVD Decrypter, then DVD Shrink and finally burn the files with Nero. If you need a more step-by-step guide, let me know.

Actually-- A step by step would be great. I'm a newbie to burning Dvd movies. I've tried burning several movies so far and have had no luck, except a few by accident (meaning I don't remember what I did, and wasn't smart enough to write down my program settings) Any help you can offer me, would be awesome. Everybody here has been really helpful---but so far, to no avail.

Using DVD Shrink is quite simple:
1. Launch DVD Shrink
2. Insert your DVD movie disc
3. Click on Open Disc
4. Click on Backup Icon

Hope this helps

seems simple enough---but I keep getting the "burn process failed" message, without changing anything after running it through Decrypter. Maybe my settings are off somehow, but the error message is greek to me.

I saved the error message, in case that would help.

Maybe you can try select the output to be ISO in DVD Shrink.
Then using Nero to burn this ISO.

Should I be using ISO mode normally for Dvd Decrypter and Dvd Shrink? Haven't tried that yet.

Is that the only thing it says? If there's more to the error message please post it. Also, I would suggest you try burning using Nero, you're more likely to get a better error message that way.

What is the error message? Sometimes DVD Shrink doesn't compress the files enough so you might need to get rid of some of the additional things available on the original DVD for example audio languages. They take up about 20mb each and aren't really necessary.

When DVD Shrink does not compress my D9 less than 4.7GB, what I will do is.....
to compress it twice
