I have an old 12x cd-rom an its peatty slow. I was wondering if anybody knows how I can make it go faster. I think its called CD-912E/ATK and it's made by either Aopen or Acer. Anybody owned this drive maby?

Sorry I don't think there is anyway to increase the speed of you CD-Rom but with the prices being so low at the moment why even try it is far easier to Buy one!!!

When it comes to reading reliability, newer and faster drives do not usually add too much. I would personally like to own and use a good old 8x (preferably CAV) reader or recorder.
I would also pay some money in order to be able to use some of these chinese readers at a lower, and less noisy, speed:)
