Hi, I was just wondering what the majority of people are going to do related to the SP2 for Windows XP Pro. I have heard, and read on the many forums that, as with all microsoft products, there are pros and cons to going with the update. I guess in this case the pros are that the updates security features should help keep the world safe from all the evildoers out there. The potential cons of having some problems act-up or not run at all are still concerning. I guess that I just want to get a feel for what the savvy user out there is going to to before I take the plunge and hit the update button.

I have heard that some games are not compatible with this.

i would say go ahead and install sp2, it fixes many major problems, hopefully it wont open many more

Heh, I like how you say hopefully. I have always been a windows type of person but the last driver update I did through windows update for my SATA HDD forced me to spend and hour undoing it so my system could see my drive again! I think for now I have the security angles covered enough that I can wait a few days as I am running McAfee firewall, virusscan etc. If you're not on linux and install it I think we could all benefit if you post your experiences in the forums. It always helps when savvy users can give their un-biased insights into the latest updates/developments.

Yes, I too am very leary about updated to SP2. Normally, I install updates without a second thought, but I've been hearing too many bad things about SP2. I think I'll wait a little bit.
