What's difference between lite-on ltr-16101b and
ltr-16102b?

Support 16102b SubChannel data ?

Has anyone succeeded in updating the new firmware OS09 lite-on ltr-16102b ?

Can ltr-16102b burn SD2 disc ?

I downloaded the firmware. Firmware update failed.. Got an error message.. and for some reason the new firmware was patches... however.. i can't make a copy of cd that i could BEFORE i ran the firmware update.. (Drive is Lite-On 16102B)

hi zip,
what about using that betablocker program and clonecd with your 16102b? I for one, would like to know if that combination works with a cdrw drive previously unable to backup SD2 discs.

The old messages were removed from here before i could check if betablocker actually worked for someone.

Answer is
The 16102b model use a different chipset.
It use Lite-On's own Safe-Burn stuff instead of BURN-Proof.

so are you saying that the 16102b are not capable of doing clone cd of sd2?

i was planning to buy this drive as i thought that it will support sd2 and are priced at slightly lower than the 16101b drive. anyone please correct me if i am wrong plase? else i would go for the 24102b which needs me to shed of more money.

last time i flashed to the OSO9 and it gave me error at the end , but for some reason it still working flawlessly.

any one here know how to make this drive runs in dma mode ? does it support it ???

to me happened exactly the same thing with OS09... but now the new firmware (OS0B) I flashed it and I actually succeeded without any errors(!).;)

Comp:

Intel Celeron 566@960mhz Intel 440BX, 256 mb, Win98SE, Lite-On CD-RW 16102B..

And by the way.. I have the DMA enabled. Some folks can't enable it but I think it's because of the stupid Windows.. sometimes it just bugs...
