Test patterns are used to test the clarity and brightness of the created files. A gradual range of Black to White bands are used, as well as dark and light areas on the screen.

In this test screen, you see different hues of black to white bands. Color level 1 should always be seen as pure black, while level 16 should always look like pure white colour. As you can see, this is an excellent black and white color reproduction.
