Twitter To Offer Media Content To Tweets

Twitter To Offer Media Content To Tweets

Enterprise & IT Jun 14,2012 0

Twitter on Wednesday announced partnerships with several media outlets that will allow users to see a preview of the website being linked to in their Twitter feed. "Starting today, you can discover more interactive experiences inside any Tweet on twitter.com and mobile.twitter.com. When you expand Tweets containing links to partner websites, you can now see content previews, view images, play videos and more," Twitter said in a blog post.

Content from Wall Street Journal, Breaking News, The San Francisco Chronicle, Der Spiegel and the Online TIME will be delivered indide Tweets containing a link to those websites. Clicking on the link will show a a preview with the headline, the introduction and sometimes the Twitter accounts of the publisher and writer. Users will be able to continue to read the article, follow these accounts, and reply, favorite or retweet the Tweet.

The social network will also show exclusive photos from inside the WWE ring, or images from sources like BuzzFeed and TMZ, short videos from television shows like BET?s 106 & Park and videos from Lifetime and Dailymotion.

The expanded Tweets are rolling out today on twitter.com and mobile.twitter.com, and they are coming soon to Twitter for iPhone and Twitter for Android.

The feature will likely keep people on Twitter's website for longer.
