Dell is strengthening its position in the desktop virtualization solutions (DVS) space with the availability of end-to-end offerings that are designed to help a IT organizations implement virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI). The new solutions include:

- DVS Simplified Appliance, which delivers easy-to-install and easy-to-manage plug-and-play solutions for organizations with limited IT complexity. It includes Citrix VDI-in-a-Box software for repeatable deployment.

- DVS Enterprise, for large-scale rollouts and for more demanding IT environments. It integrates technology from VMware and Citrix.

- DVS Simplified Desktop as a Service (DaaS), a forthcoming solution based on Desktone?s software platform.

DVS Simplified Appliance is an affordable, all-in-one desktop virtualization appliance for organizations with less-complicated IT environments. This solution is designed to remove traditional cost and complexity barriers associated with deploying virtual desktop infrastructures. The simple integrated VDI appliance can be set up in hours and scales by simply snapping together more of the appliances.

The integrated appliance consists of a Dell server pre-configured with virtual machines, management software, and hypervisor components from Citrix installed and ready-to-run. It includes three years of Dell ProSupport service for hardware and software. DVS Simplified is available direct or through Dell PartnerDirect resellers.

DVS Enterprise is designed for organizations with more demanding IT environments. It enables deployments starting with as few as 50 seats and the flexibility to scale to thousands of seats. DVS Enterprise combines the latest Dell 12G servers, Dell storage and Dell network components with VMware or Citrix software.

DVS Simplified DaaS utilizes Desktone?s Desktops as a Service (DaaS) software platform and Dell?s global datacenters and Services to provide quick deployment of VDI environments. Available next quarter, DVS Simplified DaaS will provide quick deployment and management of VDI environments.
