LiteOn bursts forth with yet another release, the SHM-165P6S Multi DVD Burner. As a Multi drive, the 165P6S can read and write almost all of the known DVD formats, including DVD-RAM.
After the DW1640 which was released several months back, BenQ expands its optical storage range with yet another release, an upgrade of the DW1640, the DW1655.
Samsung recently released their new DVD±R DL burner, the SH-W162L, equipped with LightScribe (Disc Labeling) technology. The maximum speed for +R DL has been increased to 8X, while -R DL writing speed remains at 4X. Apart from that, the drive also offers 8X DVD+RW and 6X DVD-RW media burning speed.
This time round, LiteOn has sent us one of their latest products, the SHW-16H5S, a 16X DVD burner with LightScribe support. New with this burner is 8X DVD+R9 support.
Having recently released the 750A, Plextor follows hot on the heels with the release of yet another 700 series model, the 755A. The Plextor PX-755A model drive is a typical Plextor drive, with all the well known functions enabled, including Q-Check.
Sony claims that this drive is mostly for B2B customers, such as semi-professional users who don't require the additional bundled items in the retail package and is fine balance between price and content.
The drive supports all the fastest available speeds for all formats and on top, it is a multi drive, supporting reading and writing of DVD-RAM media at the fastest available speed of 5X.
The Lightscribe strikes back, with the release of the HP 840i Super Multi DVD Writer. The 840i (or 840b as it was recognized by our computers, probably a region identifier), is not only a Lightscribe enabled drive, but also a DVD-RAM reader and writer among other things.
LiteOn's latest release in the DVD Recorder market, the LiteOn SHW 1635S is actually an upgrade of the previously released model, the 1693S DVD-Recorder drive. the 1635S has been upgraded to burn +R9 (+R DL media) at the max available speed of 8X, while it can burn -R DL media at 4X.
