BenQ has been keeping quiet lately, but they've just dropped a bomb shell with their latest FP72V. It may not boast the fastest response time, but comes loaded with features and style. If you ever need an entertainment monitor, you'll need the FP72V...

After a good showing in our test segment, the latest spawn from BenQ ODD division has proven itself capable of upholding the good name of BenQ that is fast becoming synonymous with all rounded quality. Behind that retro looking faceplate sits a new OPU, which from our tests, has convinced us that it's just as capable in delivering quality recordings as its aging counterpart in older DVD writers before the introduction of the DW1640. KProbe 2 confirmed the drive's excellent write quality while Nero DVD Speed verified the drive's incredible speed in reading and seeking DVD media.

The answer to whether or not the Joybee is right for you can be based solely on one question: "Do you use SD cards a lot?" If you do, then you'll enjoy a full featured mp3 player that lets you supplement its flash memory with your SD cards, and also lets you read SD cards at any computer you sit down at. If you don't, then the Joybee is just another flash-based mp3 player---only with a bad control scheme, and shaky software support. While the overall package isn't terrible, it doesn't quite stack up to other mp3 players in its price range.

In the area of performance, the new DW1625 was just as good as the DW1620 with the exception of 16x DVD-R write speed. CD/DVD read speeds, CPU overhead and seek times all fell comfortably within the specifications laid out by BenQ. The all important media compatibility was another strong point we had to credit BenQ as well. Till color LightScribing and LightScribe-enabled DVD±R media come knocking, drives such as the BenQ DW1625 will probably be popular only with those who have frequent disc labeling practices demanding nothing less than the labeling quality of LightScribe technology.

The FP91V+ is the latest monitor out of BenQ's stable promoting lightning speed Gray To Gray timings. With a 19-inch screen, glossy panel and great colors, BenQ outdoes their own launch of the FP71E+ 8ms LCD. Though it still has its flaws, we love it anyway.

BenQ's FP71G+ is a follow up to the excellent FP71E+ multimedia LCD. Given a response time boost to 8ms, the monitor excels at handling games and video alike. However, analog display quality is above average at best and had problems rendering shadows.

This notebook has definitely impressed us with not only its features, but also its great design. BenQ made the right choice in equipping the Joybook 7000 with not just top-notch components but also an award-winning design. The superb 200nits brightness 14" WXGA display certainly made working and playing on this notebook a real pleasure. It's even sweeter to have the ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 Mobile powering it.

With a standard key layout, the keyboard should fit in well in all environments, be it office productivity or even gaming. Not to mention, having the x730 keyboard around will add some class to any desktop. BenQ has definitely put much work into making the x730 keyboard a classy device for the discerning executive without forgetting the beginners.

The BenQ M310 Wireless Mini Optical Mouse accomplishes what it sets out to do, being an ideal notebook touchpad replacement that will work well for general usage such as office productivity and web browsing. We feel that users will be rewarded with a pleasant mousing experience, as long as you do not have delusions that the M310 will bag you top frag in Unreal Tournament 2004.

...in the end though, the unit looks fine, performs well in ideal circumstances, runs quite quietly, and is about as cheap as projectors go these days, considering all these attributes, it's really quite a compelling product...
