Apple's recently-released AirPort Extreme Base Station represents a thorough overhaul and re-packaging of the previous AirPort Extreme model. The new model is packed with enhanced features, a better set-up and management interface and of course, higher rated transfer speeds thanks to the new (and still incomplete) 802.11n protocol. Like most Apple products, the performance boost is being highly promoted. Does the AirPort Extreme stand up to the hype as well as other Apple products do? Continue reading to find out.

The fact is though that once you've oohed and aahed over your pristine, new toy, the sensible thing to do is to hide it away in a protective case. If you don't, then you?re likely to find that you're formerly gleaming iPod becomes scratched, or even broken. Recently though, we were sent some rather different cases from online retailer www.mp3additions.co.uk so we've picked some of our favourites to give you a taste of what sort of cases are out there.

The newly released MacBook Pro offers a massive increase in computing power and energy efficiency thanks to the Core 2 Duo processor by Intel. With the greatly improved CPU, Apple took an already smart and sexy laptop and gave it a 39% faster, turbo-charged, Mensa-crushing, better base configuration and a 50% faster SuperDrive, all without increasing the price. With all its benefits, it's no surprise that businesses, creative professionals and students are finding the new MacBook Pro hard to resist.

Despite its flaws, iTunes is still one incredible media player. While there are other quality players on the market that offer the same capabilities, most have a free version with the CD burning and other essentials stripped- you have to buy the ?premium version? to have these features enabled.

The original iPod nano was a stunning success for Apple, selling over 1 million units in the first 17 days after its release in 2005, and it is estimated that Apple has sold well over 30 million iPod nanos since the beginning of 2006. The new iPod nano, with its many important improvements, will likely dwarf the sales statistics and user enthusiasm for the original nano.

Straight from the brilliant minds at Nike and Apple, the Nike+iPod Sport Kit is the get-off-your-duff gadget of the decade; a product that seamlessly unites the near-universal obsession over health with consumer technology and the exploding world of digital audio entertainment. Nike and Apple have put forth a simple and inexpensive gadget that has the potential to inspire the listless, out-of-shape masses to break free from their keyboards and remotes and to engage in healthy physical exercise. The Nike+iPod Sport Kit is also a great tool for already-active runners, joggers and walkers who want to add some high-tech game to their exercise regimen.

The latest full size iPod is thinner and lighter than ever and can play video. However, getting video onto it isn't as straightforward as it is for music and for display, TV output quality and video battery life, it lags behind Creative's Zen Vision: M. If music is your primary interest though, its looks, style and ease of use are such that it's still very difficult to resist the charms of this iconic portable media player...

The nano ships in two capacities, 2GB and 4GB. I went for the 2GB because 4GB isn't anywhere near enough for me to store all my music, and besides that's what my 20GB iPod is for - so my rationale is that you might as well save £40, since you're going to have to mix about your tracks no matter which capacity you go with. Apple reckons that the 2GB nano will store 500 songs, with the 4GB holding 1,000. Of course how much you actually get onto any device depends on the bit rate at which you record your music and the codec you use. Like all iPods, the nano supports two codecs, AAC and MP3, with the former being the more efficient of the two...

The iPod nano is a very slim player with an interface done right. The 15 hour battery life is amazing, audio is rich with deep bass, photos are vivid, and there's a few games to waste time at the doctor's office. Best of all, at $250 for 4GB of pure skip-free flash memory, it won't break the piggy bank. The iPod nano is heavily recommended...
