The Apple iPod touch may be the best Christmas present to get this year, just because it lights you up with a smile everytime you touch it.

All in all, it's hard to view Leopard as much of an advance on Tiger. The interface improvements are a mixture of 'great' and 'meh', while the new features don't really add much beyond tweaks to your daily workflow. The feature with the ability to really blow you away - Spaces - is switched off by default, and probably won't be found by the majority of people. So whilst Leopard will undoubtedly sell tonnes of copies (quite apart from the fact it will now ship with all new Macs), it's hard not to feel that, given the system's delay and hype, Apple has delivered too little too late - with too many bugs, to boot. Perhaps it's time for Apple to start thinking about OS XI?

The iPhone is one of the most beautifully designed technology products I have ever used. Not only does it look great, but the usability puts even its good looks in the shade. The fact that you need no stylus to use the iPhone, speaks volumes about its user interface.

Of course you can dismiss the touch as an over-priced gimmick - and many people will, justifiably. Its sound quality isn't the greatest in the world and just 16GB of storage space in a device costing £265 will be more than many technological spendthrifts can stomach. But that would be ignoring the sheer software and hardware engineering genius that's gone into making this product viable - and the pleasure you'll derive from using it. Put simply, if you want to experience the cutting edge in interface design, this is the best way of doing it without saddling yourself with a £35 per month phone bill. Apple has done it again. Bravo.

In the end, there isn't a whole lot I can is wrong with the iPod Shuffle. It does everything it is intended to do. When in use, you don't even notice that it is there. Hell, my aftermarket Sony headphones I use with this product weigh more than this player. The product is simple to use, has an excellent battery life and with a capacity of 200-240 songs, one song load and one charge should set you up with hours of listening enjoyment without any unneeded bulk.

Its years at the top of the MP3 player market have resulted in a great-looking, mature product that's not only wonderfully easy to pick up and use but is also packed with features and, most importantly, is a great bargain.

Apple's 20in iMac lives up to the hype. It's a lovely machine to look at and to use, and even in its base spec it's fast enough for the average person and very good value too. In a nutshell, it's the best desktop computer around, though you might want to wait for Leopard, the next version of MacOSX to be released before going for it.

A year has passed since Apple unveiled the 2G iPod nano, and as many have come to expect from the leaked shots, the Cupertino designers have finally added support for video support as well as iTunes store games in the third generation nano. As the screen from 2G isn't exactly ideal for watching video, Apple went back to the drawing board and came up with this new 'fatty' iPod chassis - now equipped with a very bright 2" LCD. Read on for the review to find out how the first video-capable iPod nano performs.

One thing you find after you install iWork '08 is that, when you start, you're offered quick tutorials. If you have time, I'd strongly recommend the initial tour of iWork '08, as well as the video tutorials on basic features and, also, the various features that set the iWork '08 applications apart from their competitors. Apple offers a 30 day free trial of iWork on their website. So how do the new versions of Pages and Keynote compare to their '06 counterparts? How does the suite stack up against Microsoft Office for the Mac?

Apple's all-new all-in-one iMac is gorgeous. Period! Seriously, you don't even need to turn the machine on to appreciate the engineering might that has gone into producing a widescreen display (either 20- or 24-inch) encased in an elegant aluminium (and glass) enclosure. And the anodised aluminium keyboard. Yikes! Perhaps not the most ergonomic for long periods of typing, but its slim profile (just 0.33 inches thin at its front edge) and low-profile keys are an absolute pleasure to behold. As you can see, we were pretty impressed even before we turned it on...

The Apple Special Event yesterday also announced iLife '08. iLife is composed of five applications - iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb, iDVD and Garage Band. These applications are designed to help you and your digital lifestyle. Apple also improved .mac by increasing the storage space to 10GB, transfer quota up to 100GB as well as better integration with the iLife suite. Apple also introduced iWork, so watch for my review of iWork later this week.
