Last month we looked at the Vitesta DDR2-800 Extreme memory from A-DATA Technology. In that review we found that this DDR2 system memory worked very well and we were pleased with the results. However, in addition to their DRAM module selection they also have a growing selection of flash memory products. A-DATA has separate flash drive series geared for mobility, sport, classic, and themes. At hand today we have the A-DATA Classic PD18 to see if their flash products are as good as their system memory selection.

Today we are looking at the A-DATA 16GB SDHC memory card. This memory card is one of the highest capacity SDHC cards that you can currently buy. The first synthetic test that I performed on the A-DATA 16GB SDHC card was with HD Tach. HD Tach showed a random access time of 0.8ms, an average read time of 18.1MB/sec and an average write time of 13.9MB/s. The A-DATA 16GB SDHC card is a class 6 SDHC card and that specification guarantees a 6MB/sec minimum transfer rate making this card significantly faster.

How much can one write about a 2GB Secure Digital Memory Card? It would seem that, for all practical purposes, when you've seen one, you've seen them all. However, we've learned that not all SD Memory Cards provide the same speed of transfer. So we could assume that it would only be required that we point out which of them is faster than the others. That logic disappears when one takes a good look at the A-DATA 2 GB microSD Trio. As you would guess, "Trio" means "three" and that's exactly the standout point of this product. It's a "Three-in-One" product that becomes quite flexible in the way it can be used.

A-DATA has only been around since 2001, but in the past six years A-DATA has come to market with a number of DRAM memory products. Their current selection of products now range from Disney flash memory drives to desktop and notebook DDR2. For review today we have a 2GB kit of A-DATA's Vitesta DDR2-800 Extreme Edition memory. These memory modules are designed to operate at DDR2-800MHz with 4-4-4 timings or DDR2-1066MHz with 5-5-5 timings, and are backed by NVIDIA EPP support.

The PD17 is available in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB capacities. The color of our sample is champagne gold, but it seems to be pretty silver in actual color. It is also offered in elegant red and bright blue. : The A-DATA PD17 has on-par performance with average USB 2.0 flash drives and offers a sleek, modern, minimalist design...

There are alot of flash drives available today with several different features. Some focus on portable applications, others on speed, or even ultra-portability. While some of these units have some nifty features, it doesn't do any good it you don't have it with you. Many flash drives come with a lanyard, but let's face it: for most people hanging a lanyard around your neck isn't a daily ritual.

Flash drives. Whether you are a computer enthusiast or just a regular computer user, these 'geek sticks' sure caught on with the mainstream crowd -- it's extremely hard nowadays to find someone who does not own one of these. Being a general consumer product, sometimes aesthetics in relation to being a fashion statement is just as important as performance is to an enthusiast. This is made possible as technology advances to permit physically smaller and smaller units to be manufactured with minimal sacrifices otherwise. Today, we'll look at the A-DATA PD 17 USB flash drive -- it sure comes in a unique design to accommodate users desiring disks with great looks, but how well does it fit in other areas such as performance? Let's examine this drive to see if everything goes as well as its looks.

A-DATA is joining the band wagon of 1200 MHz memory with their Extreme Edition memory. Many manufacturers have displayed memory at these speeds at Computex this year. The kits are available in 1 or 2 GB variants and come with the new, cleaner heatspreader. This Extreme Edition memory is the first to manage 1200 MHz at default voltage with no problems at all.

A-DATA has shown off some very unique USB storage devices in various shapes and sizes. The tiny PD17 already impressed, but lacked the overall performance. This is where the PD18 can shine, with much better results in a very small package and twice the storage space - 2GB.

The absolutely tiny A-DATA PD17 is not only the company's smallest, but lightest offering as well. The modern shape, coupled with the choice of three colors and great construction make for a very unique device. Even though it is so small, performance is very good and the PD17 is ReadyBoost capable as well.

A-DATA is expanding their rugged flash memory line-up with the RB19. It features a thick rubber casing and is not just water resistant, but completely water proof. The green/gray USB stick looks quite nice and does have a very solid impression. We benchmark the flash drive and even drop it in a glass of water, to make sure it can deliver flawlessly after the dive.

The A-DATA MyFlash PD16 is a very solid and spacious USB 2.0 memory device with capacities of up to 16 GB. It features a lifetime warranty and can be used for Vista ReadyBoost. The aluminum/plastic construction makes it a bit heavier than other memory sticks, but also adds to the durability. We take an all around look and benchmark the PD16 to see if it performs as good as it looks.

In the past A-DATA has been making USB sticks with an official Disney license that were themed like the movie Cars, The Incredibles or Mickey. Now they added a flash drive with a Pirates of the Caribbean theme. Pirates of the Caribbean has been the best-selling movie in 2006. In addition to just the flash drive, buyers will get a set of MSN display pictures and wallpapers.

The A-DATA Super Info SD card comes with a little LCD readout that can display volume name and remaining capacity. This is a very useful feature because it allows you to check what is on the card without inserting it into a computer. The performance of the card is good as well, transfer rates are in the 12 MB/s range with access speeds of only 1.3 ms.

The A-DATA Vitesta DDR2 1066+ 2 GB memory kit is an excellent choice for overclockers who are looking to maximize their clock rates and performance. Even though it is specified to run at CL5, we had no problems running at CL4 above DDR2-1000 - CL3 is possible as well at reduced clock rates. What makes this versatile memory kit even more attractive is its fair price of $365.
