Message Text: Pinnacle Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: PCLE - News) announced today an expansion into important new consumer market segments with the launch of several major new products at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas starting on January 9, 2003 including: Pinnacle MovieBox USB, Pinnacle MovieBox DV, Pinnacle MyMP3 Pro and Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD.

Pinnacle Systems is a recognized industry leader in digital video having won 8 Emmy awards for technical excellence as well as numerous other awards such as PC Magazine's prestigious Editor's Choice Award for Pinnacle Studio 8 and Pinnacle Edition. Pinnacle Systems is now focusing on several new market segments by extending its digital media expertise to audio, photo and data applications.

"Our users have been dreaming about having the ability to connect all of their digital media including digital video, photo, audio and data applications," said Kim Fennell, President and CEO of Pinnacle Systems. "We are excited about expanding our business and demonstrating at CES that the dream of integrated digital lifestyle applications on the PC is at hand."

Leading the charge at CES is the Pinnacle MovieBox family that currently consists of Pinnacle MovieBox DV(TM) and Pinnacle MovieBox USB(TM). These two products extend Pinnacle's reach into the analog camcorder market which has been estimated to still represent over 80% of the installed camcorders in US households. Pinnacle MovieBox gives consumers who have analog camcorders an easy way to join the digital world by connecting their camcorder to their PC (without having to install a PCI card) and empowering them to create home movies. The MovieBox products include the award-winning Pinnacle Studio 8 video editing software to deliver a complete, end-to-end solution for capturing, editing, and outputting video to tape, DVD, CD, or Internet.

Pinnacle Systems is also launching an all-in-one audio solution called Pinnacle My MP3 Pro that transforms home PCs into complete MP3 music studios. This application combines high-quality MP3 encoding with professional-level audio and CD capabilities to deliver incredible control over personal music libraries. Pinnacle MyMP3Pro was developed by Steinberg Media Technology AG, the worldwide leader in audio software that was recently acquired by Pinnacle Systems.

Instant CD/DVD is a complete suite of optical recording applications that extends Pinnacle's reach into the optical storage market. This suite of solutions is designed so that a user can create, copy, and burn any kind of CD or DVD media, making it the ideal solution for today's most popular and emerging disc creation activities-including compiling MP3s and creating audio CDs, authoring and burning DVD content, and backing up data, music, photos and video. Pinnacle's introduction of Instant CD/DVD is a direct result of Pinnacle System's acquisition of VOB Computersysteme in October 2002. Pinnacle intends to ship Instant CD/DVD by the early spring of 2003.

All of these solutions can be viewed this week beginning Thursday at CES at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall. Booth # 7556.
