Upgraded firmware again, this time with the *new* P 3.2 version.. downloaded directly from Philips website...

Same issue!!!
The writer doesn't "see" any of my film back-ups!!!

It can play them, but cannnot rip / clone them.

I think I'll bring it back to the store......

I knew I had NOT to buy philips again.... guess I had to choose the LG 4163.........
damn!

I've made more testing...

Often it says "disc is empty"... but it isn't they are my beloved films backups!!!
By the way, I always use Verbatim media... supposed to be high quality....

It actually makes some dvd copy (dvdDecrypter) but it does not always work... with 2 dvd (film backups) it's impssible, it arrives at 99%, then it begins a loop of reading errrors... infinite!!! It seems not to be able to read the outern sectors........ strange .....

Also, after opening/closing the tray a couple of times, it "sees" the disc....

Using DVDINFOPRO, it starts out saying: "Un-supported command: Your drive does not support the commands required to read MID codes on this media"

However, this happens with my backups, Verbatim 4x dvd-r media... maybe the Philips dislikes the -R media???

However, I put in two 8x TDK, one is -R, the other +R: the Philips drive has no problems inrecognizing them correctly......

I'm confused... maybe because it's very late now... and I'm very tired.....

Should I return this drive???

Maybe I'll do...
After reflashing it with the 2.2 firmware......
