Hi,
I just got an NEC 3500AG burner and I wanted to put region free firmware on it. However, I discoved that, when ripping under Linux with the original firrmware (2.18), I was getting speeds of about 125 frames/sec. However, when I flashed it to the 2.18rpc1.bin firmware, ripping slowed way down to about 67 fps.

I finally tried the 2.C8 firmware, and that seems to work and still be fast at ripping. However, I understand that the 2.18 firmware is newer and has better support for media.

Any idea why the modified firmware would slow down ripping speed?
