Hi Guys

Got my 3500 tgis week. Very nice so far. Flashed to 2C8_SE_Ritek_4X_DL after doing some research.

Why do some brands of media burn faster than their rating?

My 4x-R leadata01 burns at 4x

TY 8x-R burns at 12x!

Leadata 4x+R burns at 8x!

This is using DVD Shrink with burn set to "Max"

thx

bob

Cause NEC feels they can burned up to that speed without any problem!

Cool,

So each burner will analyze specific media and determine that?

I just bought some GQ 8X+R's today at Fry's that NEC says are good at 12X!

thx

Oops,

Forgot to add the media is Prodisc R03. Any good?

Would the stock FW let you overburn (overspeed)?

thx

I bought some GQ's from Frys a month or so ago and they were 8X Optodisc0R8 and boy were they crappy!!!I'm going to take them back. I had some memorex Prodisc R03's, they burned well at 4X on my 3500. They did not do well at 8X. Now I have about 800 good disc. About 600 TY,s T02's and 200 ricohjpnR01s. There are also about 100 -Rs that are MCC003s (can't rember right now, but they are Verbatum)SP) MCCs,I do know that.
The NEC 3500s loves all of those that I throw at it.
