Has anyone figured out whether or not this is possible yet, and if so, how? I know you can use MTKFLASH on the drive, but I don't have a 5224 bin to test with.

There seems to be a problem with the new TEAC 48X & 52X drives. The MTKFlash 1.55 version doesn't recognize the board type and while makes the bin file, i don't know if those bins are correct or not. Any idea(s)?

Maybe you have to readout the two banks separately like:
"mtkflash X r /a0 /b filename.bin" and "mtkflash X r /a1 /b filename.bin" one after the other. What command did you try before? If you're adverntuous, try using the bins to flash your drive and see what happens...

Ok, we ripped the firmware of both the TEAC 4816 and TEAC 5524 using either the merge or each bank settings, check them here http://www.cdrinfo.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8869

Using MTKFlash under DOS could restore your drive back to its original state

Mtkwinflash also works to restore it back to 4816IM. Thanks John to go through the trouble to rip 0012.bin for us.

I tried flashing 5224 firmware onto my BTC4816IM using mtkwinflash, but it didn't worked. Flashing went ok, but the drive was not recognised by windows. After that, i tried to flash back to the 4816 firmware (482S) using mtkflash in dos, but i, by mistake, flashed an incomplete file. No i can't flash anything to the drive... I get an error all the time... Mtkflashwin doesn't even see the drive.

What i mean is... My drive is dead... I can't reflash it back to the original version. Can anyone tell me where i can find a firmware made with mtkflash so that i can use my drive again?

Can anyone help???
