Hi Everyone, I'd just like to start by saying this site is awesome, with great help support (from all the threads i've read).

my problem is probably so simple but I can;t figure it out. How can I convert a .rar file to ISO so I can install it onto my PS2 HD? any help would be great,

If i had to guess i'd say you just need winrar to extract the iso that is compressed inside the rar files.
.RAR files are exactly like .ZIP files.They only need a different program to "unzip" them.
