Newbie question for 812s - 7/26/2004 4:49:41 AM

Hello all,
I recently bought an LaCie USB2 external DVD writer. This writer is recognized by WinXP as a LiteOn 812s.

I would like to know if I can upgrade the firmware to support DL as a normal 812s ?

If yes, I need some help because I've found a lot of threads on several forums, but I'm a little bit lost, particularly about the different steps to perform, the addresses to download patches and firmwares.

Thanks in advance for you help.

You would have to transform your drive to a 832S drive in order to get DL writing capabilities

Steps:

a) First you need to grab the LTNFW utility (Attached).

b) You need to grab the latest 832S firmware from dhc014

d) You need to grab Omnipatcher, insert the above file and select the last option (enable cross flashing)

d) Congrats, you have a new drive

LtnFW is better (newer and more stable) than LtnFlash. Also, the user must patch the 832S for crossflashing!

So it's not a problem if my writer is in an USB2 box ??

So if I well understand, I just follow the steps described in the coe65k link ?

Thanks you for your help, I'll let you the result ASAP.
