I appear to have a problem with CoolEdit Pro. It will edit mp3's upon first install, but after a time, it quits working. Anyone else have a similar problem? Any recommendations for mp3 editing software? I usually check for quality, delete any lengthy silences, and normalize volume levels.

No.
I'm thinking the MP3 Encoder may be a third-party plug-in, with a time limit?

No it is the Fraunhofer IIS encoder. The registered version will not run out. Anyways, to make an MP3 file, I use LAME, and edit (if needed) with Cool Edit Pro 2.1. CEP is now an Adobe software btw...
