http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57105 is the link.

You need to be able to compile code and lots of other tekkie stuff in order to use this. Good Luck!!

Yep I have made succesfull backup of ut 2003 and also nolf 2 by using blindread/blindwrite 4.2.1.11 the steps are quite simple first you create an image of the disk using the nibble. The you use the Physical CD characteristic dumper to create the physical image data for the disk you then save that data in the same directory as the created image with the same name as the image. Then you simple copy the cd using blidwrite with the write method dao Pw and you are done you have made a perfect 1:1 backup

This is taken from the howtobwa file provided with blidwrite
quote:
BWA format describe the media local density, which is roughly how many sectors fits in a given diameter

The variation of that density is used by some copy protection scheme to make the difference between an original cd and the copy

Blindwrite suite is the first copy tool able to fully extract and reproduce that density variations - thus is the first tool able to produce 1:1 copies of the most recent protection schemes.

How to :

1 - Extract the image of an original CD - subcodes extraction is not mandatory
2 - Extract the media density table, with the provided tool, BWABuilder

Please note :
* BwaBuilder is a tools with a timing precision of about 6 µS, which make it VERY sensitive to CPU load. When BwaBuilder run, avoid any other operation on your computer
* BwaBuilder works better with SLOW extraction speed, and without the screen refresh during extraction
* BwaBuilder may fail completely on some drives - and produce wrong curves. Usually, a nice looking hyperbolic portion with up to 4 zones of "squarewaves" area are a good sign. A few glitches are still acceptable.
* dumping the table may take long time, up to 2 hours.

3 - in BwaBuilder, save the BWA file in the same folder as the blindwrite image file (BWI), and use the same base name. E.G., if you have extracted SAMPLE.BWI with Blindwrite, save the density table as SAMPLE.BWA in the same folder.

4 - Use Blindwrite to write the image file, use a DAO PW writing mode (preferred), or DAO PQ (not extensively tested to date)

5 - Insert the burned cd into a CD READER ONLY unit (not a writer, or use a ATIP hiding driver, like Insektors or CloneCd tray). The cd shall be identified as the original.

And don't forget to play only copies of CD you have legally purchased....

Firstly what a great forum!! Well done!

Hey FireFly is right......I made a successful backup copy of UT2003 CD1 (Play Disc) using Blindwrite Suite 4.2.4.35.
Go get it at http://www.blindwrite.com/download.htm
I didnt need a "Hide CD-R media" tray icon on either.

In addition to what Firefly posted here are some things worth noting...

I ripped the image to the HD using the "nibble" option.
Image ripped at 4x speed (my burner is a Sony CRX175E)
Read the graph stuff at 4x speed ..to make the bwa file(was the recommended setting)
Tick the box "Use BWA file if available" on the last page before burning image.
I burnt the image at 4x speed...to prevent a coaster.(probably didnt need to though!)

Bad luck to the SecuROM boys!![:p]
THanks FIrefly!

This Forum Rocks!!!

Thanks all!

Hello everyone[B)]
I thought I'd created a monster when I started this tread. I expected a just few postings, and it just kept growing. now if i can just learn to to use the advanced burning programs, ie: cdrWin, blindwrite, ect. They are not what I would call User Friendly. If someone with the time and knowledge could write a faq for the various programs that would be a great help to the less fortunate(Mentally, ha!)like myself.
I just ordered a liton 48264s because I just donated my 24102b to my niece and nephew(teenagers, gotta love 'em).
I would like to take this oppertunity to thank everyone that contributes to this forum. I've learned a lot here. Keep up the good work everyone!!!!!!!
Jeff in LA,CA.USA

PS. now if we could just get an "BOW" icon like they have over at CDfreaks, I laugh my self silly everytime I see it.

Hey Glaze,

Maybe I jumped the gun a bit!!![:0]
I have discovered that my backup copy doesnt work for a new installation(still okay for a play disc!)....an error message popped up stating there are errors on the cd (cd1).....I will try one last time ...Maybe I will read the cd on a lower speed for the graph stage.....if successful I will post some layman instructions....
If some one else knows why my backup didnt work, let me know!

I made a copy using clonecd that produced a copy that installs okay...but doesnt work as a play disc!

So if the next image doesnt work.....I will stick with having two "CD1" discs.....An "Install Disc" & a "Play Disc"

Hi, guys. I have some queries regards BlindWrite, which I have not used b4. Usually I will Backup any 1:1 copy with Clonecd and for normal files will be Nero. The questions are:

1)Does Blindwrite do exactly what Clonecd does? i.e Backup Securom, Safedisk 2 and with this special UT 2003 protection.

2)Since Clonecd can't backup this NEW PROTECTION, does that means we can replace clonced with Blindwrite?

3)What are the restrictions for Blindwrites, which clonecd can do?

Thanx in advance for the answers on the above questions.

I just played around with the new CloneCD v4.2.0.1 and UT2k3 and I'm still getting no love with any backup of Disc 1...all costers :( Looks like with the exception of BlindWrite (which looks like more trouble than it's worth), this one has us all beat.

Doesn't UT2003 have the same protection as Hitman 2(Securom New)? If so I made a working backup of hitman 2 with my LiteON 40x. It installed on 3 diff pc's in normal readers and worked great. I just wanted a backup for safe keeping and figured I would see if I could install it on other pc's.
