Ok it's me I'm back :) I returned my faulty DVR-104 that I had for a new one. Now I get the following strange problems. I burn a DVD-R lets say its pretty full to the brim with data. After I burn it I use CD CHECK program to verify the data, well I thought it was a good prog to use anyway. So after a few mins its checked the entire DVD-R and no problems/errors nothing is reported. My DVR-104 burner can also read every file without a problem at all. Here is the strange part. Right after a burn, my Liteon 165 can read all the data fine. But after a day, the data on the outside of the disc, lets say 4gig onwards appears to have trouble reading, crc/cant find blahblah file etc. So i cant copy the files from my Liteon DVDROM to my hdd. Even though I got this error, I check it using CDCHECK in my liteon drive, and it reports back no problem, it read/checked every file on the disc and it was fine. So basically, windows cant copy some files, but CDCHECK has checked everyfile and says its fine. Im guessing its the media because my DVR-104 can read the entire disc perfectly, whereas before when I had the faulty burner, not even my burner could read the disc. Any ideas? I hope I explained this clearly, sorry if i didnt :)

That is exactly what happens to me, except, I can remove the DVD+RW from the drive or reboot the computer and put it back in the drive 5 minutes later and it will act as if no disc is there or say that the disc is not in a recognizable Windows file structure or similar. Funny thing is, if the data is less than 1 gig I do not have this problem. But I cannot even erase the discs that i have burned that are not recognizable and I have burned about $50 worth. DVD+R discs work fine under 3.9 gigs but none of the files over that threshold have yet to verify. I thought I read in a forum that DVD+RW discs cannot be read if they contain over 2 gigs of info on them unless a certain driver were installed but in a crash I lost the URL.

I have an HP DVD200xi.

The problem here could be the used media, try to use branded media from known manufacturers to store your data
