As usual its time to update the list of upcoming drives:

- Mitsumi
CR-52XETE (52/24/52) or (52/24/48)

- CyberDrive
CW099D (48/24/48) or (52/24/52)?

As we can see Mitsumi jumps to the 52X (CAV) recording level while CyberDrive will also introduce similar model...

52X too fast!
No point... 48X is fast enough, those companies need to focus more apon writing quality and features...

The only speed they need improve is ReWrite speeds [:0]

What is everybody's opinion on +48X writing [?]

It would only cut time by a few seconds and probably the fastest 48X writers would be faster than the slowest 52X writers... Errors, excessive noise and the major increased possibility of older, worn discs *****ing/exploding [B)].

(Such is the reason behind Plextor/Teac limiting by default the 40X reading, but still allowing the 48X reading for users who requrie.)

52X will come by the end of this year. Of course already 48X is fast enough, so increasing the re-writing speed would be nice. but for now only 24X is possible (with the current chipsets).

You know what? I belive that later, Yamaha CRW-F1 can be turned into a 48X reader/writer!

Why the reason for no logos on the drive?!

Just what I recon

Nah, CRWF1 will be possible the highest recording speed that YAMAHA will offer. Maybe will introduce another drive with 32X re-writing speed somewhere in the future

No I don't think they will either Yamaha are not like other Manufacturers they are not speed chasers with the same drive and just different Firmware look how long they stayed with 24x and then release 44x their Writers are always optimised to the Limit without losing Quality !!!

Yeah, I'm in agreeance:

44/48X writing is fast enough. I love the Yamaha's 24X rewrite, but finding media for it where I live is impossible! Companies need to focus on quality, not speed. I don't plan on upgrading to a faster writer even if they come out with 99x!!!! It's pointless to me, and I don't mind waiting a few seconds...

Hello!

24x Rewrite is enough, too. The different from 24x to 32x are ca. 20 seconds-if you burn the RW completly full. and i donīt burn a RW full in one session
