Q. If you copy a SecuROM or SafeDisc (v2.40.010 versions and above) protected CD, why do you need to use the "hide cdr media" when using the backup in a writer put not when using a cd rom drive? A. It hides the ATIP information. ATIP gives information about the used media (e.g. size and manufacturer). Some copy protections read the ATIP to find out if the CD is a copy or an original. If ATIP information is recognized it is obvious that it's a CDR and therefore a copy. Once the copy protection has recognized this information it will ask for the original CD. Most CD Writers can read the ATIP and most CD Readers Can't..... Edited by - Clint on 08/04/2002 06:17:57
