Why can I copy Audio CD using old bit-to-bit byte-to-byte copy mechanism, instead of using DAE which is IMO is very long time (esp if I want best result/quality) and it can't use (IMO) Secure Extraction.

I hope there's a way to copy AudioCD using old conventional methods.

While you can use CloneCD, I would suggest utilizing Nero, it's geared for audio cd's. I've had mixed results using CloneCD for audio cd's.

i would recommend either feurio! or eac (exactaudiocopy) for copying audio cds. they are made specifically for audio and that's all they do. feurio is shareware and eac is free.

I've tried EAC, but CMIIW it's use DAE to extract and then burn it just like CloneCD 4.

Is DAE degrading the audio cd quality?
IMO, sectors/tracks reading and copying is still the best for any kind of copying. How's your opinion?

DAE is the best way, and produces the best quality when ripped to .wav format.

There is no better method to exract audio from a CD digitally than DAE...

I'm not sure who informed you that IMO/Sector/Track copying produced the best results, because it's false. DAE is the best method for audio, it's DIGITAL AUDIO EXTRACTION. I recommended Nero because it is faster than EAC and I have had no problems with results from Nero. I personally don't use either, I use MusicMatch to rip my cd's, it's mp3 encoder is licensed from the inventer of MP3, so as Laffin would say "You get what you pay for". MusicMatch also rips to wave format if that's what you desire, MP3Pro, MP3VBR, and any bitrate MP3 as well as Windows Media.

Hey Harlin
So just do what MP3Mogul says and use Nero and see what copied Audio CD is like. I use Nero and have no problems unless of course it has CD Protection on it and then I would use Clone CD!!!

harlin, don't be confused. nero, ezcd, and all the rest use dae when copying an audio cd. when we refer to 'ripping' we don't necessarily mean copying it to the hard drive in order to change formats. the tracks on your audio cds are in .wav format already. if you choose 'copy cd' in either of these programs as well as in feurio or eac then it will read it using dae and then write it to cd.

the latest versions of clone are supposed to copy audio using dae also but version 3 and prior simply use sector copying, not the best for audio.
