And as Laffin Assassin has said many many times..... If you all got Cloney on your machines then you can scan these discs and it will tell you the protection. Works great. Give it a try..

Visit www.cdrtimes.net too. Another great place....

Also, your CD reader must be able to read 2352 bytes RAW Data + 16 Bytes P-Q Subchannel Data.

Your CD writer must write in RAW-DAO with 2352 bytes RAW Data + 16 Bytes P-Q Subchannel Data.

If these requirements are not met, you will not get a pefect back-up.

If you don't have a clue what I'm on about, just list your CD-readers/writers here and I'll see if I can help you .

Okay folks, here's the dirt:
LiteOn 24102B-Windows XP-Clone CD & BlindRW with Warcraft 3.
The LiteOn drive does have the specs for RAW writing as mentioned in previous posts.
I used Clony XXL to pass the SecuROM *new* settings onto Clone CD which read then wrote using afore mentioned settings. Despite this, it still did not work. I remebered the old SecuROM gave Clone CD fits so I tried Blind RW and used all of the various write methods. with no success. I will keep trying and post any succesful results here. If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

Can I ask one thing, are you using the Writer to read and write the disc? If not you should. Also are you using the Writer to install and play the game? If you try to use the writer to play that game you will have trouble unless you use the "hide media" option in the CloneCD tray icon....... Just a shot.........

Yes I have seen that as well John but I did it at 40x on the Yamaha 3200e and the Aopen 4048B and at 48x on the TDK 401248B which as you know as a Lite-on inside and neither of them had any problems !!!

I am using the LiteOn drive to read the disk to the hard drive then writing from that image. I installed it from my DVD drive which cannot read ATIP info but to be on the safe side I still hide CDR media with CloneCD tray. In another effort to play it safe I have dropped the read and write speed all the way down to 2X. However, thank you for the tips and ideas.

Myrddyndenox,

I have made over 30 coasters trying to both read and write with my Lite-241040b. It may be possible but I got tired of wasting time and money to get the thing to work.

I did make a successful backup though using an old CDR as the reader and then writing with the Lite-on.

When reading I made sure I had the subs and Regenerate checked. In the Error Handling Tab, check Abort on Read Error.

When writing all 'off' except buffer underrun technology (yes, close session can be unchecked)

I do not know much about burning CD's, Tron and Laffin Assassin know quite a lot though. I got most of this information from them and a site called Cdfreaks.com. I hope this helps!

Thank you everyone for your help and advice. I read the NWN forum and got some ideas and plan to try several things including reading my original with my DVD drive INSTEAD of my LiteOn. I also went in and made my own manual setting for Clone CD using some of the tips listed before. I will post again if I succeed.
