Hi guys,
I was wondering if this is possible to upgrade this Traxdata drive (that is a Philips PCRW804 repackaged) to something. I saw there's a new firmware for Philips PCRW1204 that adds seamless link and cd-text. Could this firmware be used to upgrade? I'd like to have at least cd-text feature.
Can someone suggest me some possible upgrades to have some benefits?
I hope it :-)
I'll check for answers sure of your help!
thanks a lot to allz

should I be the first? I'm worried...if it fails can I recover it?
I've read a lot about patching the other firmwares to let the program flash it on the cd-rw. How can I do it?
Hope to find a solution
thanks anyway john

Download the firmware and install it. it will normally instaall to c:/program files/philips/flashtool/
in this directory you will find a lot of firmware upgrades for philips drives. Open the file H4_P3p1.cvt with a hex-editor.
In the first line you will see the name ccd4851. just rename it to ccd4801 and save it. Now can run the flashtool and select H4_P3p1
to flash your drive. BUT USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. If it fails your drive will NOT respond anymore.

I CANNOT go back and re-flash it with its own firmware?

i tryed this a while ago on mine cousins burner but it doesn't work
the flash program does not repport any error messages only the LED is not burning orange while flashing so the firmware is not going into the drive... i think its a kind of protection in the flash program or firmware file....
