I have bought a Pioneer 106s. I wanted to make it region free. I have upgraded the firmware from this site using 1.22 version. I have also tried version 1.09.

http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/dvd/dvdfi.htm

It updated without any problems. Then I used Drive Info V1.1 to test it, clearly says that Pioneer 106S has no region protection. When I try to play a region 1 disc my PowerDVD 3.0 version says that disc is locked at region 4 (I did say yes to change the region while I was testing the DVD-ROM, and used up all the five settings).

Have I done something wrong? I am running WIN ME on a Pentium III, 733mhz machine.

What should I do to fix the problem.

Thanking you in advance.

I prefer DVD Region Killer. Simple and easy to use. Its made by the people the brought you CloneCD here is the link http://www.elby.de/RegionKiller/english/index.htm

Once you set it up, you never ever have to change anything again. I dont know about DVD Geinie never really used it after I found this program.
