Thanks, I realized this after I posted..sorry...and the fix works. I still have my problems. I suspected the firmware upgrade would resolve the issue of not being able to use cdrw cd's however, I still have the same problem. I am only able to use cdr with Win XP and the CDD4801 drive [:(!]

I believe the OS is installing bad drivers. After the Firmware update, the OS will restart the computer and try to install its own drivers for the CDR. Just cancel the installation and install others. I'll try to find them and then I'll post it here.

Dear Laffin Assassin:

I am running Windows XP and cannot update the firmware for the Phillips pcrw804 "sh*t", excuse my french. Keeps telling me to have the Aspi. I installed it, but keep asking it. Aspi programs tells that it is in the PC. Before I bring a real Aspid to bite this hardware. Would you email me the needed sofware?

Thanks
