I'am considering buying a new cdrw (current one is a creative 12x10x32) but would like one that works with clonecd in copying protected cd's.
My available choices are Plextor, LG, Asus or Aopen.
The link on this page for this topic is down, therefore the post.
I would appreciate any advice on this matter.

thanx

check the clone cd compatibility faq. Of the choices you've listed, the LG GCE-8160B or GCE-8320B is probably best. The plextors cant overcome this protection on their own without using a program like betablocker or clonecd's own amplify weak sectors (which sadly is disabled in the US due to fascist laws like the DMCA). You might also consider any of the recent Liteon's as well. They work wonderfully in Clonecd, are very cheap, and tend be very accepting of cheap media.

ack.....i forget to mention which protection i was referring to. Safedisk 2.5, which is used in a LOT of the new games coming out. Only a few burners can handle it natively (the ones that have two stars in the EFM category on clonecd's web page) Some of the LG's and Liteon's are 2 star capable as far as EFM is concerned. None of the plextors are ;(

I have tested lots of CDRW's with Clone CD and the best I can suggest are the Yamaha 3200e 24x10x40 and the TDK Cyclone CDRW401248B 40x12x48 and they both will copy anything you throw at them with Version 4 Clone CD. I have only been using the TDK for a few days but I am very impressed with is quality and performance and the fact that it will write at 40x comfortably with Riteck 32x unbraned cdr's. Also they are both cheap to buy at the moment.
Ihope this helps

Thanks guys.

I've heard alot of good things about LG's (aside from the 24x10x32), so I think I'll wait till I can get my hands on the new 40 x cdrw.
