Not sure what you mean by RAW?

If you want to rip from an Audio CD to MP3, one of several freeware audio rippers will do it - If you want to encode an existing WAV file as MP3, there's a good many choices for that also.

Learn to Search!
www.dogpile.com (now that's just TOO easy!)
Or Newsgroups at:
http://www.google.co.uk/grphp?hl=en

To be going on with, I'll cut/paste a recent rant of mine - freeware rippers versus Audiograbber

There's PLENTY of good freeware, 2 of which have SECURE extraction -
Audiograbber's one excellence is the noise reduction plugin.
(and THAT comes from elsewhere too)

www.exactaudiocopy.de
EAC - The BENCHMARK in secure ripping, which also allows you to
quickly sample any uncorrevted errors, and maybe de-glitch them as
well!
Supports CD WRITING on many writers - YMMV!
(Postcardware, + donations welcome)

www.cdex.n3.net
CDEX - Secure ripping by CD-Paranoia in the 1.40x betas
Nicer look than EAC, also reasonable interface for converting WAV-MP3
and Riff/WAV MP3 coded
(open-source)

http://www.zlurp.com/
ZLURP Ripper - take a look at the sreenshots - THIS is a strong
challenger indeed, though it lacks the secure ripping technology of
the other two.
(Donations requested, but not required)

There is also DBPowerAMP - but the interface is an acquired taste!
http://admin.dbpoweramp.com/
Free, shareware extension pack avaible but not required for basic
function

CD'n'Go
http://www.cdngo.com/2/news/news.html
A competent litlle bundle

WHY ever pay for CD ripping software - and I DON'T mean WAREZ.
Want the best RIP at any cost (easy... EAC)
Drive doesn't like EAC? (try CDEX - Paranoia mode)
Want it FAST - if your drive is good enough then take off the
resync/correction modes.

i only ever seen 1 .raw audio file before . It was in Echelon;s Dreamcast self boot tutorial but I assume it is actually a genuine audio file format . One way to do it would be to use cdrwin and burn the raw files to a cd then from that cd you can extract them as wavs or mp3s .

I think CDRWin can burn RAW images

Visit www.cdrinfo.com - The Recording Authority

Ive had a bash with Exact audio copy, seems to work fine. Apart from one of my disks which is a full 70 mix, only reads as 45 minutes. Weird. These things are here to try us.

If i get chance Ill try some of the other freeware. Thanks to all

Rob
