i have a philips CDD4801 (8x4x32) an i was trying to update the firmware of this writer because the original one seems to have some nasty bugs. But the update fails, i am using windows XP, and i think that it have something to with the OS.

CLOSE DESCRIPTION:
the progressbar of the flashingtool goeas up to 5% till that the orange LED blings, but then the orange LED goes off and and the tool tells me (after the progress have reached 100%) that the flashing has failed.

Try to run a flash program as a windows 98/me or windows 2000 compatibility

right click on the file-->properties-->compatibleity--->windows 98/me or 2000

I don't know this flash program is a dos version or windows version if the flsh program is a dos version just try to boot with windows 98 or me diskette and then flash the cdrw drive.
