I've checked the TDK website and this model is definitely different than the VeloCD 16/10/40X and the 16/10/40. I was first wondering if it is compatible with RAW-DAO +96 and thus able to read subchannel data? And secondly if I am able to burn SD2 cd's with it using CloneCD or do I need different software? I tried my Max Payne CD without any luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I think that would probably be a rebadged Liteon(maybe if the box says smart burn) http://cdrinfo.com/hardware/liteon16101/index.shtml I dont think it would be a ricoh because I think ricoh only made a 16/10/32 drive nto 16/10/40.

THe 161040 (made in japan sticker on bottom of box) was a plextor which is the best out of them all it would have beeen better for you to get that one .

The 161040x (says made in china on bottom of box)was Sanyo.
