Hello
i'm having a strange problem with my optical drive.  it is a CD-Rom/DVD-Rom &burner.  for some strange reason it will not recognize any blank DVDs.  It can read all movies, it can read burnt DVD disks, it can read AND write CDs, but it won't recongize a blank DVD.  when a new disk is inserted, the drive doesn't respond.  using windows XP.  windows explorer can't open the optical drive when a blank DVD is in, but it can open the optical drive when a blank CD is in.  what could be the conflict?  recently the hard drive of the computer died and a new one was installed with windows XP and all service packs included.  could there be something missing since this repair was completed?

thank you for any helpful information!!
