I've been putting-off buying a BR burner until I knew what was coming up. Does anyone have any information on upcoming drives from Sony, LG, etc?

Hello Omf,

Ypu should expect Pioneer's second generation of BD burners this summer, mainly offering 4x for BD-R and support for LTE media (organic layer). A hybrid BD/HD DVD drive will be also available in September.

Samsung also plans a hybrid drive in July.

Don't expect many changes this year, such as higher recording speeeds etc. The Blu-ray disc association is focusing on the BD-ROM segment. They still facing problems with the Blu-ray licensing procedures as well as with the AACS licensing, which has not yet been completed.
