Hello. I recently got an old 350mhz PII back up and running for someone with a fresh install of old Win98, a new 60 GB hard drive, 256 mb more RAM (for a total of 320), and a new DVD burner, a DTC dvdrw 1008. However, there's a problem... The burner, while Win98 will recognize it with a generic CD-ROM driver and will read discs without any trouble, I cannot get any of the freeware burning software I've downloaded so far to recognize the drive as a burner. The software I've tried: Express Burn and BurnOn. I also tried Free Create-Burn ISO, but that wouldn't even run. I bought the drive used and it didn't come with any software that had special drivers, writers or anything like that. I didn't think I'd need them, maybe that's my mistake. I've downloaded the most recent version of the motherboard's BIOS to see if it would help--but it did not. So, what should I do? I think I have a copy of Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 lying around--maybe it will work better? Do I not have a proper driver, or is it just hard to find burning software that recognizes this particular drive, or is it something else entirely? I do have another optical drive in there, the original DVD-ROM drive that came with the computer (surprising that it came with a DVD-ROM drive as this computer was bought in 98). However, I made sure that the burner was set to master and the original drive to slave. What else am I missing?
