I created, what seems to be, a complete copy of NBA Live 2004 for the PC. I installed it (FULL) from the burned copy and no errors. But then comes the part where I need to insert the CD before I can play the game. It says that I need to insert the correct CD. Is there any way I can either play without the disc, or somehow make it recognize the burned copy as a original?

Thanks.

First, you need to scan the game with a protection scanner such as Aray or Protection ID. Next, we need to know the exact make and model of the burner you are using. Post back and we will help you further.

Or 2 other solutions, 1) Play it in a DVD ROM which won't recognize the ATIP info on the CDR, or 2 use a program such as CloneCD and turn off the reading of the ATIP.

That depends on if he made the copy correctly in the first place. Also, some protections don't even use an atip check.

I do not know, that is why I'm asking him to scan it so that I can help him further. I do know that NVA Live 2003 has Safedisc 2.80.010, so I'm assuming 2004 will have a later version of SafeDisc, most likely 2.9+. Because of this, one cannot simply assume his only problem is the atip check. The burner might also be at fault.

Where do I get Aray? I did a search on google and can't find it. I found Protection ID and will scan the disc tonight. The burner I have is built into my laptop. It's a QSI DVD/CDRW SBW-081. It's a 8x cdrw burner and a dvdrom drive.

I could install it from the burned copy though. Does it matter if I use a CDR or CDRW to do this? In case you need the CloneCd version, it's 4.2.0.2

Thanks.

You can get A-Ray HERE. But I've just found a friend that has NBA Live 2004 and it is protected with SafeDisc 2.90 (good guess huh?). CloneCD didn't offer support for SafeDisc 2.9 until it's latest release (4.3.16). So you either need to upgrade, or use Alcohol 120% or BlindWrite5. As for your burner, I'm not able to find much info on it at all. Anyone out there know if it can do correct EFM encoding of regular bit patterns? greknight17, you can figure this out yourself by following the guide HERE. If you can't figure it out, or just lazy and willing to possibly waste a couple cds, go HERE, download all 3 of the profiles for Safedisc2 and use those to copy your game. Hopefully this helps.

Also, CD-RWs work just as well as CD-Rs, so you can use RWs until you get it right so you don't waste any.

This particular drive does "NOT" do correct EFM encoding.

In that case, use the SafeDisc 2+EWS profile on the link above.

Sorry for a dumb mistake I made. I have 2003 not 2004 and yes, it's safedisc 2.80.010. What do I do from here?

Same thing I said above. Although you now have a lot better chance at success.
