Hi,

I have easy cd creator 4 that came bundled with a cd burner.
My pc crashed and needed the os re-installed. After re-installation of the os and the burning software I found I could no longer extract to file using mp3 as an option. I have uninstalled the software and re-installed again but still no good. Any ideas?

Mark

Are you still using Creator 4? You might have to re-install a missing MPEG-1 codec. If one was included with the original package you will have to locate and re-install it. Otherwise you might try a newer one.
I do not know, however, if this will be recognised bt Creator.

There was an update on the cd, I ran it and rebooted but it made no difference. I also found an update on the web, installed it, rebooted and still no difference. Cant think what more I am supposed to do next!?!?! If you have any idea where I could download the codec then please forward it to me. I installed a "free" mp3 encoder but it installed a load of spyware I have to get rid of.

I'm not quite sure, but if you are interested in Nero, I can point yo in the direction that will have "EVERY" codec that work, without fail, no extra monies to pay, and absolutely, POSITIVELY, NO SpyWare.

Easy CD creator 4 does not SUPPLY an MP3 CODEC, but uses an axisting ACM codec, current versions of LAME have an ACM codec available, but I really don't know if it's compatible.

If I were you, though, I wouldn't bother ripping with ECDC 4 - try Exactaudiocopy, or if you want something better looking...

Now freeware, no crap!

Try the LAME ACM with Easy CD Creator, or seek out the Radium codec - it was "liberated" from another product, and was one of the best for a long time - probably styill better at 128k and below, but LAME will ace it at higher bitrates

Try the codec link that Matthew is sending you first to try and get your software working, because if you use Nero you will have to purchase it after it's trial period.
