When you open Nero Burning ROM, the last item on the top should be a ROUND circle.... This is the LightScribe function.  If you installed Nero "PRIOR" to installing your drive, you will have to Uninstall Nero, then connect the drive... with it connected, then install Nero.

You have to go to:

www.lightscribe.com

Download the lightscribe driver...then all is well.  Burning a DVD lightscribe as I type this.  They look great.  Install the lightscribe driver and Nero should recognize automatically...the driver runs in the background of Windows using very few resources...

Don't get your LightScribe driver from them.

Your LG should have came with an install disc... It has the HP LightScribe drivers on them, and they work flawlessly, you'll have problems if you go to LS.com

Hmm,i noticed two strange things on this burner.
1) It doesn't have the on/off switch (like the review of cdrlabs)
2) It can't read dvdz over 15x.There is a speed drop down (chipset limitation)

Ohhh and the drive inside is the 4164 and not 4166

Is it the 2166 or the 2164? If it hasn't lightscribe then this is an indication that it is not an 2166.

According to LG's specs, yes the drive supports LS. I don't know if the link works but I hope it will:

I don't think we will review LG 4166 or 2166D, since according to LG, 4166 already has been phased out(!), they will send us a newer model
